Oral herpes: Most recurrent oral herpes oubreaks indeed are usually in roughly the same place every time, but there are plenty of exceptions. Spreading herpes to a new spot is rare. However, recurrent herpes reactivates from nerve roots, and latent infection in a different nerve may have become more active. If the new outbreaks are at all atypical, best to see a doctor to confirm with a viral culture or PCR.
