Sleep and depression: Energy level and depression are clearly linked with poor sleep patterns. If you are sleeping regularly it is quite unusual as most people with depression sleep poorly and have such low levels of late stage sleep. Also depression is related to anhedonia or loss of interest in previous interests which create difficulties in your ability to do familiar activities

Symptoms: Similar to why the symptoms of diabetes cause patients to feel tired with low energy, but the disease itself is high blood sugar; depression can be related to brain chemical issues, but causes a host of symptoms. Many symptoms are different in different people. Some patients experience irritability and insomnia, while others feel a loss of energy and sleep more, for example.
