Replacement: How do you know your thyroid is low? If you had a blood test, it seems as though the doctor who ordered the test would likely be the one to provide the necessary treatment. In the case of hypothyroidism (low thyroid), the treatment is replacement with l-thyroxine (synthroid, for e.g.), and then checking the blood levels again in six months. The depression should get better as well.

See your doctor!: Low thyroid levels can cause symptoms similar to depression - low energy, weight gain, apathy. Your primary care provider can check your thyroid and recommend further treatment. Depression can also be present with low thyroid levels but typically you would want to get the thyroid levels back to normal as it may also treat the depression.
