Hard to say: The primary contagious period of EBV mono is 3 weeks, with some doing so for 3 months. After this primary period, affected people will shed virus (be contagious) intermittently for years.Hubby might have been your source, but others in your sphere of friends may have also. The waiting period for infection is long enough that you may never know how you were exposed.
