A member asked:

How strong is a finger bone eight weeks post-fracture? is it ready for return to contact sports? (in my case, pinned under surgery, now full movement)

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bony healing?: An x-ray would help to be reassured that healing is mature after 8 weeks especially if you are returning to combat. Full flexibility will be necessary to avoid reinjury. Depending on the type of sport such as prize fighting, football or basketball and the likelihood of a hand injury, I might demand the first two tests and still wait for a total of three months.
