Wisdom tooth pain: Typically it takes 24 to 48 hours for amoxicillin to take effect. If your symptoms are getting worse or not improving see your dentist about this. You said you have had this happened before. Has your dentist recommended extraction of your wisdom teeth?

48-72 hours: Antibiotics aren't known to take effect very fast and if you don't start to perk up, go back to the dentist for the definitive treatment.
