Call prescribing MD: You should call your prescribing MD at this point. Call the office, if she is on amoxicillin, she may need to be switched to amoxicillin-clavulonate. If on another therapy like azithromycin, may need another switch. Contact your prescribing MD and continue to treat pain and fever and follow MD treatment with antibiotic until then. How does she look? Breathing easily? Feeding well? Good luck.

Need to continue abx: Symptoms from ear infection, like fever and ear pain take a few days to subside after starting antibiotics. You can continue ibuprofen and Tylenol (acetaminophen) alternatively as needed for fever and plan to go back to your doctor in 3-4 days if still symptomatic. If better by then, plan to get ears checked again in 2-3 weeks, as probably directed.
