Home Remedy: Put a heating pad to that side. Also , if there are no ear tubes or perforation ( hole in the ear drum), placing several drops of warm, not hot, olive oil in the bad ear acts for pain relief. Do not candle!

Children with pain: For the short term you may want to alternate a children's tylenol (acetaminophen) and advil every other time. Ice packs may help as well. I can hear your worry. I wish you the best.

Tylenol (acetaminophen) with codeine: Acetaminophen (tylenol (acetaminophen)), ibuprofen, or ear drops, e.g., auralgan, does not provide enough pain relief. For severe ear pain, tylenol (acetaminophen) with Codeine (0.5-1.0 mg/kg/dose) seems to do a better job.
