Get it evaluated: You may be right. This could be an ulcer or from trauma. But the best thing is to have a professional look at it (your dentist) so that he/she can see what it looks like and make a record of it. They may suggest that you watch it for a few days to see if it resolves but at least they looked at it and will have a comparison point when it is re evaluated.

Canker sore: can be very painful. Individual ulcers typically last 1-2 weeks. Try to keep adequate oral hygiene as possible. If concerned, see your dentist.

Solution: The solution is to be evaluated by your Dentist. Once the lesion has been visualized and palpated your Dentist can determine what's causing the lesion, and therefore what is the appropriate treatment. There are text books full of white ulcerative lesions. See your Dentist who has the training and experience to differentiate.
