I have a defibrillator implanted over my left breast. it has hurt ever since placed. i hurt severely at times. the ep doc says it os nerves around the device. the otc meds do not work. what can i do?

Get second opinion: consider an evaluation by a different physician. It is not usual for an implanted device to be a source of continual discomfort. If an adjustment in the present position is not available, perhaps replacing the device in a totally different location will solve the problem. Talk to your doc: Best will be to talk to your doc, your PCP, who made the referral to the cardiologist. Based on the exam he or she will make a decision either to treat the pain, refer you to a pain clinic or consider a second cardiology opinion regarding defibrillator.
