Sinusitis ?: Sometimes inflammation of the sinuses can result in sensitivity of maxillary teeth. In addition, radiographs to not detect if the tooth is vital or non-vital. Did your dentist test to see if the tooth is alive? Seek a second opinion from an endodontist for peace of mind.

Mystery pain: In agreement with my colleagues. If all else fails, see an Endodontist who can take a CBCT (3D radiographic image) which may show something the routine 2D x-rays do not. Get a second opinion. Usually these types of mysteries either go away and don't require treatment, or worsen over time and the diagnosis becomes evident.
