1 Simple trick-: count to 10 before acting on an urge to impulsively harm someone physically or emotionally. Reduce anger by deep breathing. Breath in deeply & slowly through the nostrils. Hold air in lungs for 5 count before slowly exhaling through an open mouth. Repeat until you cool your jets. Focus on your breathing not what is making you angry. Change perception: If you feel that you snap before you can think, it is more of a reaction to a situation. This is not a conscious decision, it's a physical reaction due to the release of adrenaline. It may be very hard to control a physical reaction by counting during a "knee jerk reaction". A better way might be to assess the type of thing that upsets you. Then change your attitude towards the issue.
