Generally 2 hours: The standard time for checking your blood sugar after a meal is considered to be two hours (although if you are on insulin or trying to sort certain problems other times may be helpful as well). A good rule of thumb is if well controlled the the 2 hour sugar should be back to within 40 mg/dL of the premeal blood sugars. If this case is not for you, 1 post meal checks are usual in gestational DM.
