Lymphnode: As long as the area is followed up properly, you should be ok. In other words, be sure to follow-up if the node does NOT go down. I am assuming the US showed purely a reactive lymhnode, which with warm compresses, not constantly palpating it, and being treated for any underlying infection,...should go away in a few weeks. If it persists, then a Biopsy would be the most definitive Diagnosis.

Wouldn't Hurt: I would. I mean, ultrasound is good, but there's stuff that the ultrasound can't distinguish. I'm sure the ENT doctor concluded 'no problem' based on his physical exam and other tests, so don't freak out. Maybe he wants to wait and see you back in a few weeks to see if it changes, so don't freak. Just don't keep touching it every day, you'll irritate it and it may enlarge it and make it tender
