Why wait for ENT?: One's primary care doctor can take care of typical throat infections. An ENT specialist is only needed if there is something unusual about a tonsil problem. Throat infections are among the most common problems we take care of in primary care. Patients are usually seen in the first 2-4 days of symptoms.
