See GI doctor: While acute pancreatitis can be life threatening during a severe episode, it sounds like she may have features of chronic pancreatitis. Does she still have her gallbladder in? I assume she is not smoking or drinking alcohol but these are other risk factors. A GI doc can help evaluate causes to prevent repeat episodes, and she may benefit from a pain management clinic evaluation. Wishing the best!
