Possibly Unstable.: Swelling, redness and pain are three sure signs of inflammation. The question is whether or not these signs are part of the healing process or signs of a problem. Without knowing the specifics of the injury and your general medical condition, it is hard to make that determination. After 13 weeks, I would think that symptoms would be improving. It sounds as though a second opinion is in order.

Get another opinion: After 13 weeks, there should be less inflammation. Without knowing specifics, the hardware needs to be checked for loosening, an infection needs to be ruled out, and chronic regional pain syndrome needs to be considered.
