A Jones fracture is an injury at the base of the fifth metatarsal, located closer to the ankle than the toe. Stubbing your little toe may result in a break of the little bones (phalanx fracture) of your toe but would not impart enough energy to hurt the screw or the proximal part of your metatarsal bone. The bruising of your foot is likely swelling from the toe injury. Use a hard sole shoe.

A Jones Fracture is at the base of the fifth Metatarsal. The small toe is the problem should be immobilized with tape or splint. You may need to be in a Fracture shoe.
