Left sided pain: Mid left sided abdominal discomfort may emanate from the descending colon and is seen in conditions like inflammatory bowel disease, diverticulitis or occasionally in the irritable bowel syndrome. Since the symptoms have been going on for eight months you may have a low grade situation, but I recommend a consultation with your physician or,even better, a gastroenterologist.
