I was put on 60 mg prednisone for 3 months, then tapered to 50mg for 2 weeks, 40mg for 2 weeks then 20mg for 2 months (6 months in total) and now my nephrologist wants me to completely stop prednisone at 20mg. is this safe?

Reason?: What was the reason for starting high dose taper steroids? Unusual to stop at 20mg actually. Any kidney biopsy done?
