Get a hobby!: A nuclear catastrophe is not imminent. The world is not going to end from radiation, heat waves, tornadoes, typhoons, lightening, floods, earthquakes, cold wave or any thing else like that. Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex.

Heatwave: Avoid activity in the middle of the day. Run errands early AM or after dark. Keep a water bottle handy and drink water liberally -more than your usual 6-8 cups/day. Spritzing with water or wiiping down with a wet cloth will also help dissipate heat by evaporation.

Heat Waves: Good day; Preparations for heat waves include-- cold showers, cross ventilation and fans that offer a good breeze! I usually drink lots of liquids, wear lite clothing and stay out of the sun. Best of all remain in an air conditioned room. Good luck!

Stay hydrated!: A good list of DOs: DO stay hydrated, stay in the shade, wear light colored clothing, avoid strenuous exercise in the heat, if exercising -do so during the cooler times of the day or in an AC room. Slow down. Seek places with AC (malls, libraries etc) if you don't have it at home and be prepared for power outages! Lower shades on windows. Take cool baths & give your pets have plenty of water too
