How do doctors tell between a wart and a skin tag?

By looking: Warts are, well, warty. They feel harder and thicker than normal skin and they will probably have a flat base. Skin tags look and feel like skin and usually have a pedicle that lets you move it back and forth. Warts don't move.

See below: Warts tend to be round and raised. Skin tags tend to protrude from the skin in a small flap.
