Probably normal : Mucoid secretions occur commonly with viruses- if your eye is extremely red, swollen or painful, you may want to see a doctor quickly. If none of the above are true, you could use warm compresses and over-the-counter artificial tears for comfort. You are probably describing viral conjunctivitis. Your eye symptoms will resolve along with the rest of the symptoms when your body defeats this virus
