Eye irritation: sounds like you are developing what we call conjunctivits (inflammation of the mucous membrane of the eye). Most common cause is cold and upper respiratory virus. Usually lasts 7-10 days, Almost always goes into other eye as well. Keep hands away from eyes. Good hand washing important as this can spread easily. Cool compresses to eyes can help. If no better or worse in 7-10 days, see doctor.

Eye Infection?: It could be a viral infection, or you could have irritated your eye in some way. It will probably resolve on its own within a few days, but if it gets worse or persists, then you should see your doctor for evaluation and treatment.
