Phosphenes: Little flashes of light, if not a premonitory sign of a retinal detachment, usually are associated with fluctuations in blood pressure. Such visualizations can also be experienced as a part of classic migraine, or can be confused for the blue field entoptic phenomenon. If a dilated eye exam with BP check is all normal, the cause of these phosphenes may be due to vascular insufficiency.
