Be prepared to take an IMMEDIATE dose of valacyclovir 2 Gram (2pills) at the first tingling (PRODROME) of the next attack. Get a prescription now and always have 2 pills ready to use. This will shorten the attack and reduce the symptoms. Topical are almost useless.
