Hypoglycemia : If your grandmother is having episodes of hypoglycemia in the middle of the night, she may need to have her medication altered. She should see the doctor who is treating her diabetes. Ask her to bring along a record of the blood sugars that she has documented, so that the doctor can more effectively treat it. Good luck.

Endocrinology: Yes, take your grandma to an Endocrinologist right away to have them evaluate her medications and adjust them to avoid hypoglycemia. Newer medicines such as SGLT2 and DPP-4 inhibitors have a much lower risk of hypoglycemia. Your grandma may need to switch her sulfonylurea if she is on one
