A member asked:

I get uti's every month i have my period when i wear tampons but never when i wear pads. why is that?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bladder not empty: When the tampons are in place it pushes up against the bladder and tube that empties(urethra) the bladder. When you are urinating on your period you are not emptying the bladder completely allowing residual urine to get infected over and over again. Use a Valsalva maneuver(hold your breath and push) at the end of voiding to allow the last few drops of urine to egress.(empty) and change tampons.
