You need a diagnosis: You need a diagnosis, culture and appropriate antibiotics. this could be a staph infection. See your physician now before it gets worse

You will need to see: a health care provider in order to determine if there is more of a problem present than just the toe. Do you have diabetes? Is the bone infected? Is it bacterial or fungal infection? You should see a health care provider as soon as possible to get this checked out.

Antibiotics: You need to consult your Doctor. After exam they might take a culture if there are any secretions/puss and you may need Antibiotics orally/topically depending on the infection

Ingrown or Not.: A 17 year old with an infected toe, more than likely means that the infection is secondary to an ingrown toenail. The nail can be treated by either trimming a piece off the nail, removing a nail border, and permanently destruction of the nail root. If the nail is not involved, then the toe is cultured, cleaned and proper antibiotics given. Soaking in various solutions can help.
