Need exam & Xray: Several things can cause fever and this kind of pain, which sounds like pleurisy. Please see a doctor ASAP for a physical exam and chest Xray. Some problems which cause pleurisy can become quite serious if not diagnosed and treated early.

Fever and pain: Fever and pain with breathing should be evaluated by a physician sooner than later. Pneumonia should be ruled out, as that would require antibiotics quickly. If no pneumonia found than other possibilities that exist and should be looked in to by ur doctor. Inflammatory conditions and two coexistant conditions should be sought after. U should see a doctor soon. Hope u feel better.

Pneumonia?: This is a sight-unseen assessment of course, but a fever along with what we'd call a pleuritic-type pain along that rib could be consistent with pneumonia, a localized bacterial or viral infection of the lung. Are you short of breath? Coughing? This deserves an investigation - directed physical examination and chest X-ray to be sure.
