Doctor can evaluate: A cough that's not getting better should be evaluated by a primary care doctor, to see if there is an infection (viral, bacterial, mycoplasma, etc...), an allergy problem (various medications are helpful), an asthma problem (can consider trying asthma medicines such as inhalers), stomach reflux, a heart problem, lung cancer, some other lung disorder, etc... Bloody phlegm means a trip to a doctor.

Physician visit: A possible infection or another cause, please see a physician right away. A chest imaging study, TB test and sputum culture are indicated. They will consider testing your clotting mechanism and factors. Avoid Motrin and Aspirin until evaluated.
