Antacids ok: True heartburn is a symptom of gastroesophageal reflux and refers to stomach acid going into the esophagus. This might need investigation if frequent and i would encourage you to see your family doctor particularly if there are any more concerning symptoms such as pain or difficulty with swallowing, poor appetite and/or weight losss.
