Caffeine: Many of those "workout supplements" contain large amounts of caffeine. This can result in dangerously elevated blood pressure and irregular heart rhythms. Those are compounded by the stress of a hard workout. Play it safe and just have some water or gatorade to hydrate before a workout and skip the caffeine.
