A member asked:

Can gingivitis be treated at home through properly taking care of your teeth (brushing twice a day and flossing at least once a day)?

Possibly: If it's just gingivitis and not a more serious infection coupled with gum/bone loss. Please see your Dentist/Hygienist to make sure your mouth is as healthy as possible, then follow oral hygiene instructions to the letter. Regular Dental examinations are required to assure that your efforts are effective. So start with your Dentist and go forward from there.

To a point..: If the gingivitis is caused by plaque and calculus deposits that are stuck to your teeth, then these deposits should be professionally removed by your dentist and hygienist. Once your teeth are perfectly clean you can treat gingivitis at home. You personally will not be able to remove all deposits.
