A member asked:

Can you please tell me why it'sunsafe for a patient with a pacemaker to have an mri scan?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Arrhythmia: Pacemakers work by electrical impulses and are affected by strong electromagnetic fields. Mris work by strong electromagnetic fields, so having an MRI with an implanted pacer can be life-threatening. There is also a risk of heating of the wires when subjected to the MRI field.
