Clinical exam: Truth is we didn't always have the luxury of mri's. So, a good clinician and a good history together can make an assumption. You have pain - so the question really is how to get you out of the pain. Assume, there is a tear. Start with conservative treatment and if it doesn't improve you have a surgical option.
