Treatment: Influenza or "flu" is different from the common cold. Children 2 weeks and older can be treated with tamiflu (oseltamivir) which covers 99% of circulating influenza in the US. Pediatricians will likely use their judgement when treatment is needed, as influenza improves on its on without treatment. Tamiflu (oseltamivir) just shortens the course. Please consult a physician for other questions related to flu/colds and symptoms.

Depends: There is little that can be done with anyone with flu other than supporting their fluids, nutrition and making them comfortable.Tamiflu (oseltamivir) is heavily advertised, but has many possible side effects including seizures in kids. I limit it's use to hospitalized kids with symptom onset less than 36 hours before diagnosis.
