See answer: Not able to offer specific advise without examining you. Some of the risk factors that increase the likelihood of DVT are: family history of venous thrombosis, recent surgery, immobilization(bed rest, long plane or car rides), smoking, injury, obesity, IV drug use, previous DVT or PE, estrogen or testosterone medication. Tenderness on deep palpation of the calf is often present with DVT.
