I am 47yr f. woke up with aching and throbbing pain in the left shoulder blade shooting down to my left arm. i have taken some aleve (naproxen) and tried to massage the area but hasn't really helped yet. should i be worried?

Get checked: Most likely it is a muscle spasm but given your age you should see a doctor to make sure that there are no other issues going on. If it is muscle spasm there are medications that could help.
