I took aleve (naproxen) without food, woke up to a really sharp stomach ache a few hours later, it's been 8 hours, and stomach still hurts. should i be worried?

May or may not be Re: Aleve (naproxen) is certainly capable of causing gastritis and stomach pain. You should eat/drink bland foods for a couple of days. Ice cream or milk shakes would be good. if the pain persists beyond a couple of days, go see your doctor for further check up.
