See your PCP: Since this is recurring i would get checked out. With shoulder and arm pain a cardiac source needs to be ruled out although it does not sound like one. You may have some impingement within the shoulder that is worsened when you sleep on the particular shoulder. This can often improve with physical therapy and injection.

Get it checked.: The shoulder is most complicated joint in the body and easy to injure. If you are young you can watch it and don't do anything that makes it hurt. It may get better over time. If you are older then you might as well figure an MRI to realy know what is wrong. Std x-rays not much benefit unless you had physical injury. Mri tells all! no radiation and you know what is wrong. Pcp can tell you!
