Please describe a good reading for ast/sgot and alt/sgpt on the liver function tests?

They should be norma: The normal levels are under 50 units. But this is a very sentive test. It takes a minor liver damage and the enzymes can go up into value of 100s.

Just the facts: If they are up, repeat off alcohol and medications. If that doesn't work, the workup will be for hepatitis b and c, wilson's, hemochromatosis, immune hepatitis, and maybe a couple of others. If these are ruled out, often the cause is the metabolic syndrome and the key is to return to a fitness-focused lifestyle. Best wishes.
