Urinary pH: That is an excellent question. Research studies have shown that systemic diseases such as Type 2 diabetes cause an imbalance with ammonium formation and oxalate secretion in the kidney, resulting in a lower urinary pH that creates a microenvironment chemically more favorable for stone formation. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20400141 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1471772
