Patients whose kidneys disease causes a lot of protein to be lost into the urine (proteinuria) can develop edema of the skin (swelling/too much water in the skin tissue), and these people might absorb Insulin more slowly, but that is an indirect effect.

No: The kidneys are responsible for the breakdown of Insulin whether it is secreted normally by the pancreas or taking by injection in a person with diabetes. If the kidneys begin to fail the breakdown of Insulin is slowed. In this setting a person with diabetes may need to take less insulin.
