What is causing your pain: The specific diagnosis of what is causing your pain will determine what you should take. Nerve pain often responds to medications called lyrica (pregabalin) or gabapentin. Proper dose level may take weeks or more to achieve. If you have an inflammatory condition like arthritis, anti-inflammatory medications may help relieve the cause and the pain. Narcotics are a possible options as well.
