Timing : You can take them together but fatigue will be the biggest issue. Even with a two hour difference, the sedation could be noticeable. Likely smarter to separate them a bit.

MED QUESTION: Can be taken together, but two points to consider: (1) A scheduled narcotic pain medicine will only mask the pain. If you're looking for improved performance, your best bet rest and rehabilitation of the injury rather than masking the pain. (2). Codeine containing meds like Tylenol (acetaminophen) #3 can also produce drowsiness; possibly negatively impacting performance.
