If structural abnormalities are ruled out, are swollen turbinates always the cause of congestion such as vaso motor rhinitis?

Rhinitis : There could be other causes of rhinitis. Allergic, non allergic. Conditions such as LPR can appear as rhinitis with post nasal drip as well. LPR- laryngopharyngeal reflux and/or silent reflux. May want to ask your ENT or a surgeon who specializes in GERD TO do work up.

Allergies.: That sounds like allergies. Nasal congestion, runny nose, cough, headache, facial pains and earache can be triggered by fragrances, dust mites (sweeping the floor), grass, trees, pets, environmental molds and such.
