Allergic rhinitis: Persistent nasal congestion with sneezing and clear nasal drainage, without fever, is suggestive of allergies. This usually responds nicely to over the counter allergy medications intended to be taken once daily. It is also not uncommon for young children to get upper respiratory infections once a month during early years of daycare or elementary school (usually viral).
