The root has to go.: You need to get to a foot specialist and fast. Having an ingrown toenail grow back is assured if the procedure performed does not remove or cauterize the growth plate or root. I fear that the surgeon that you went to may have just removed the nail and decided t let the nail regrow. There is almost a 100%chance the nail would ingrow again. The nail root must be treated so as to not allow regrowth.
