Cartilage damage: Damaged cartilage of the ear creates the appearance of a cauliflower ear which can be repaired in some cases by removing certain components of the irregularly shaped cartilage to restore the natural contour of the ear. In severe cases, grafting cartilage from the other ear, nasal septum, or rib cage can provide additional material for an advanced reconstruction.
